At the 2026 Open House, we welcomed prospective students and their families to our Davutpaşa Campus. Organized under the slogan “Are you ready to be a Star?”, the event provided prospective students with comprehensive information about the opportunities offered by YTÜ—ranging from academic programs to international education opportunities, from technology teams to the entrepreneurship ecosystem, and from scholarships to campus life.

Yıldız Technical University (YTÜ) organized the 2026 Open House for prospective students and their families who are preparing to make their university choices ahead of the 2026 Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) preferences. The event, held at the Historic Hamam Cultural Center and drawing a large turnout, concluded on July 28.

Under the motto “Are you ready to be a Star?”, the four-day Open House, which began on July 25, brought prospective students and their families together with YTÜ’s faculty, students, and alumni at the Davutpaşa Campus. Prospective students had the opportunity to obtain direct information about the faculties and departments they aspire to join.

YTÜ’s faculty and staff shared with prospective students the opportunities the university offers—ranging from academic programs to international education opportunities, from technology teams to the entrepreneurship ecosystem, and from scholarships to campus life.

Our Rector Met with Students

Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik, also met with prospective students and their families as part of the Open House Days to answer questions regarding the application process. Debik stated that Yıldız is not just a university; with its Technopark, clubs, academic expertise, and campus facilities, it offers students an entire ecosystem.

As part of the Open House, Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, President of the Defense Industry and a YTÜ alumnus, and Cihad Demirli, Deputy Minister of Education, also visited the department booths alongside our Rector, Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik, and met with prospective students. 

A Message to Prospective Students from Yıldız Alumnus Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün

Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, a Yıldız graduate and President of the Defense Industry, in his message detailing his journey from his student years to his academic career— from his role as the founding department chair of the Department of Control and Automation Engineering to his position as vice rector, highlighting the university’s strong academic faculty, laboratory infrastructure, technopark ecosystem, and application-oriented educational approach.

Görgün emphasized that YTÜ—which he described as “one of our country’s distinguished and long-established technical universities”—offers a robust education and research environment through its campus facilities, technology park, laboratories, and academic staff. 

Noting that YTÜ contributes to the development of the qualified human resources the country needs, Görgün said that its graduates have taken on important responsibilities in various sectors. 

“We see many YTÜ graduates in the defense industry”

Noting that YTÜ graduates contribute to the country’s development, growth, and production across various sectors, Görgün stated, “We also see many of our graduates working with our companies in the defense industry, and we see them contributing to successful projects.”

Advice for Prospective Students on YTÜ

Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün also advised prospective students making university choices to consider YTÜ.

Görgün said, “When we evaluate all of these factors, I believe YTÜ is a university that students in the process of making their college choices should keep in mind.”

Görgün cited his own career journey as an example of the academic development and career opportunities YTÜ offers its students.

Prospective students and their families who visited the university during the application period met with YTÜ faculty members, students, and alumni—including deans and department chairs—to receive direct information about departments, educational programs, campus life, and post-graduation career opportunities.

Questions regarding the application process were answered directly

During the open house days, prospective students and their families asked faculty members questions they had about the application process—ranging from double major and minor programs to Erasmus+ mobility, from internship opportunities to industry partnerships, and from student projects to post-graduation career paths.

Our clubs and teams also shared their experiences as Yıldız students with the prospective students. Unmanned aerial vehicles, autonomous race cars, robotic systems, and various engineering projects developed by Yıldız teams that achieved success at TEKNOFEST and international technology competitions were showcased to the prospective students.

Prospective students received information from the students who developed these vehicles and systems about project development processes, teamwork, and competition experiences.

Information sessions at the faculties and departments for students and families seeking information will continue until August 10, 2026, the deadline for application days.

YTÜ’s Global Rise

Continuing its rise in international academic rankings, YTÜ is strengthening its global visibility in the fields of education and research year after year. Having climbed 102 spots in the QS 2027 World University Rankings, YTÜ is ranked 634th globally and 6th among public universities in Turkey. 

Ranked 3rd among technical universities in the YÖK Research Universities Ranking, YTÜ is bolstering its scientific research through national and international projects, university-industry collaborations, and high-quality publications. 

YTÜ: Turkey’s Erasmus+ Leader

Positioning internationalization as a key element of its education and research strategy, Yıldız Technical University continues to lead in Erasmus+ student mobility. For the past three years, YTÜ has stood out as the university sending the most students from Turkey under the Erasmus+ program.

The university has a strong international structure, encompassing more than 300 partner universities, over 700 international cooperation agreements, and an academic cooperation network reaching more than 100 countries. YTÜ researchers also contribute to Europe’s scientific collaboration networks through their membership in over 100 COST actions.

Under the Erasmus+ program, 1,820 YTÜ students were sent abroad for study and internship mobility during the previous academic year. During the same period, 460 international students studied at YTÜ. Through its Erasmus+ initiatives, the university secured 12.3 million euros in grant funding.
