"Translation Beyond Human Languages and Cultures in the Age of Ecological Crises" Conference

An international conference that will explore the concept of translation in the context of ecological crises—beyond the boundaries of human languages and cultures—will be hosted by Yıldız Technical University on November 12–13, 2026.

Yıldız Technical University is preparing to host an international academic gathering that will address the changing meaning and scope of translation in the age of ecological crises. Organized in collaboration with the Biodemocracy and Inclusive Linguistic Practices Research Group, the conference titled “Translation Beyond Human Languages and Cultures in Times of Ecological Crises” will bring together researchers from various disciplines.

The conference, titled “Translation Beyond Human Languages and Cultures in Times of Ecological Crises” and open to international participation, will open on November 12, 2026, at the YTÜ Historical Hamam Cultural Center. The sessions of the two-day conference will be held at the Davutpaşa Campus Congress and Culture Center.

With Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Süter Görgüler and Research Assistant Dr. Fulya Marmara—members of the Biodemocracy and Inclusive Linguistic Practices Research Group—serving on the organizing committee, translation studies will be evaluated within the framework of approaches that extend beyond ecological crises, non-human life, and cultural boundaries.

The international conference will provide a platform for interdisciplinary discussions aimed at addressing translation not merely as a practice of transferring meaning between human languages, but as a means of constructing meaning across different forms of life and ecological relationships.
