Yıldız Technical University - Fırat University University-Industry R&D Project Call for Applications

A Research and Development Project Cooperation Protocol has been signed between our university and Fırat University with the aim of conducting joint academic work—primarily in the form of university-industry collaboration—developing R&D projects, and producing scientific outputs.

Under this protocol, project applications will be accepted in accordance with the terms outlined below.

1. Under the protocol, research and development (R&D) projects will be carried out in partnership with the “Yıldız Technical University and Fırat University R&D Center.” Each project must include personnel from Yıldız Technical University, Fırat University, and an R&D center approved by the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkey.

2. Project processes will be managed by the Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit at Yıldız Technical University (YTÜBAP) and the Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit at Fırat University (FÜBAP), in accordance with the YTÜBAP guidelines and the FÜBAP guidelines. Yıldız Technical University and Fırat University will jointly decide which projects to fund.

3. The application period for projects will begin on Monday, June 15, 2026, and end on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. Yıldız Technical University faculty members will submit their project applications to the YTÜBAP unit, while Fırat University faculty members will submit theirs to the FÜBAP unit.

4. Under this protocol, 10 projects are planned to be supported. In 5 (five) of these projects, the principal investigators will be faculty members from Yıldız Technical University, and in the other 5 (five), they will be faculty members from Fırat University. If the number of applications is high, the first 10 projects promising the highest number of SCI-E, SSCI, or AHCI (Q1 or Q2 tier) publications will be supported. If the number of applications is high and both universities agree, a larger number of projects may be supported.

5. The duration of the proposed projects is 24 months and is limited to the period specified in the regulations. The maximum budget for each project will be 300,000 TL. Additionally, an extra 20,000 TL in travel expenses may be requested to cover reciprocal visits by faculty members from the two universities as part of the project. If a Turkish or foreign researcher employed by an international institution is included in the project, the project budget may be increased by 50%. If necessary, additional funding may be provided in accordance with the guidelines of the Yıldız Technical University Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit (YTÜBAP) and the Fırat University Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit (FÜBAP). The project budget may be used for the open-access publication of articles.

6. For each project to be considered complete, at least 2 (two) articles must be published in journals indexed in the SCI-E, SSCI, or AHCI databases within the Q1 or Q2 tiers.

7. Academic outputs prepared within the scope of the project will include personnel from Yıldız Technical University, Fırat University, and the R&D Center. Personnel participating in the project on behalf of the R&D Center will list the R&D Center as their address.

8. An academic may serve as project personnel (principal investigator, researcher, or fellow) in only 1 (one) of the supported projects. Additionally, an R&D center may participate in only 1 (one) of the supported projects.

In this context, the projects to be funded must meet the research university criteria of both universities, namely:

a) the number of WOS-indexed publications,

b) the number of publications in the Q1 and Q2 quartiles,

c) the number of university-university collaborative publications,

d) Number of university-industry collaborative publications,

e) the number of international collaborative publications

is targeted. It is also anticipated that this will lay the groundwork for future projects with larger budgets (such as EU projects) and for Intellectual Property Rights (such as patents).
