Somali Minister of Higher Education Visits YTÜ
Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir, Somalia’s Minister of Education, Culture, and Higher Education, and her delegation paid a visit to Yıldız Technical University. During the meeting with YTÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik, discussions focused on developing cooperation in higher education, sharing academic knowledge and experience, and exploring opportunities for collaboration. The delegation inspected the university’s research and technology infrastructure on site and received information about the activities at YTÜ Yıldız Technopark.
Yıldız Technical University hosted Somali Minister of Education, Culture, and Higher Education Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir and her delegation. During the visit, the delegation met with YTÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik and exchanged views on potential academic and scientific collaborations between YTÜ and higher education institutions in Somalia.
During the meeting, opportunities for strengthening inter-institutional cooperation within the framework of higher education relations between Turkey and Somalia were evaluated. Emphasis was placed on increasing the exchange of academic knowledge and experience, developing joint projects, and identifying new areas of cooperation.
Following the meeting, the visit continued with tours showcasing YTÜ’s capabilities in education, research, and technology development. The delegation was briefed on the university’s infrastructure supporting scientific research and its activities aimed at translating research outcomes into practical applications.

Design and prototyping activities were showcased
At the Industrial Design and Prototyping Center (ETP), which was visited as part of the program, the delegation was introduced to the work being conducted at the center. While information was shared about activities in the fields of design, prototyping, and applied research, the opportunities offered by the YTÜ ecosystem in these areas were also highlighted.
During their tour of the center, Minister Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir and her delegation had the opportunity to closely examine the university’s infrastructure supporting design and technology development processes.

Research infrastructure was examined at the YTÜ Central Laboratory
Another unit visited by the delegation was the YTÜ Central Laboratory. Here, information was provided on the university’s research infrastructure and the scientific studies conducted across various disciplines. As part of the laboratory visit, the resources used in scientific research were showcased, and knowledge and experiences regarding YTÜ’s research capacity were shared.

University-Industry Collaboration Discussed at YTÜ Yıldız Technopark
Minister Farah Sheikh Abdulkadir and her delegation also visited YTÜ Yıldız Technopark as part of the program. The delegation was briefed on Yıldız Technopark’s activities in the fields of technology development and innovation, as well as the work being carried out within the framework of university-industry collaboration.
During the visit, efforts to translate scientific knowledge and research outputs generated at the university into practical applications were discussed. The relationship between YTÜ’s academic expertise and the technology development ecosystem was conveyed to the delegation through the activities carried out within the Technopark.
