Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik, Rector of Yıldız Technical University, met with student club representatives for breakfast at Clubs Valley. He discussed the university’s global goals, funding provided to student clubs, and new regulations regarding campus life.

Yıldız Technical University (YTÜ) Rector Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik met with representatives of student clubs at a breakfast event held at 8:30 a.m. in the open-air area of Clubs Valley. Prof. Dr. Debik shared numerical data indicating that 15 million TL was allocated to club projects last year under the Yıldız Explorers program, and 20 million TL this year, and that significant efforts were made to increase student travel allowances from 200,000 TL to 8 million TL.

Providing details on academic and visionary infrastructure investments, Debik announced that the transition to an AI-supported digital campus model will take place in the spring semester of 2026-2027, and that international academic collaborations are accelerating across a broad geographical area stretching from Azerbaijan to Poland and from Brazil to South Korea. The meeting also addressed topics such as upcoming spring festivals, ecological sensitivities on campus, the scope of club activities, and the 40-point threshold for final exams, all within the framework of the university’s institutional identity and international vision.

"If we put our shoulders to the wheel, we can make this happen"

Rector Prof. Dr. Debik stated that the university administration’s strategic priority has always been the youth and that resources supporting academic development are increasing day by day. Highlighting the university’s goals for rising in international rankings, Debik emphasized that both the academic community and students must take responsibility to achieve the envisioned vision:

"If we put our shoulders to the wheel, we can make this happen; insha’Allah, we will see our university among the top 1% globally and first in Turkey within the next five years."

Support for Travel and Transportation

Logistical support provided for students’ scientific and social activities was one of the key topics of the meeting. Noting that daily per diems for clubs’ out-of-state and international activities are set well above the minimum limits, Prof. Dr. Debik noted that one intercity bus and three minibuses, added to the institutional fleet to ensure students do not face difficulties in securing transportation during technical trips, have been actively allocated to the clubs.
