Seas H487 COAX This is a very interesting design. It was one of my favorites before I have started working on full-range drivers. It is a solid example of how small diameter speaker units can deliver low bass and keep the sound quality at a certain level. This design can go very loud. This design can make your friends look for a sub in your room. This design can satisfy you if your mother doesn't let you to the disco :) NO WOOD WORK IS NECESSERY!! It is so simple to build and yet it is very cheap! You can build a dozen in one hour time, just like playing with Lego. The silk dome tweeter gives satisfying upper mids and high frequency response and the enclosure does the rest. It has a simple cross-over since the speaker unit is COAX. It is a first order one with a cut-off frequency near 1.8 KHz. You may not need to use a coil for the low frequency unit but I strongly suggest that you use one. These are the standard parts that can be found everywhere on the world and the total cost of the enclosure must not exceed 50 USD, including the base and the 4 screws that you have to place in order to hang the small pipe in the center of the larger one. You have to place carpet inside the small pipe with a thickness of 8 mm. The hatched sections show the places where the carpet must be placed. The two parts at the top and the two at the bottom are there for to filter the transmission line fundamental frequency. You have to buy a carpet with latex bottom so that it doesn't slip down and close the transmission line cross-section. Enough words, here is the plan. © 2007 - All the text and pictures are generated by Onur Ilkorur unless where noted. Unauthorized copying of the material on this web page is just not ethical
