"We have today listened to your speakers, the sound is fantastic. It is surprising how low these horns go down in bass, given their relatively small size. We did not have technical instruments to measure, but we are pretty convinced that the speakers go down to 40hz linear. This is the best horn loudspeaker we have heard so far, without doubt. Once again, we found the bass very clean. I can honestly say that, at least in the room we listened, nobody would opt for adding a subwoofer to these horns.
We liked the Fostex 207E much more than the 206E in these horns. The 207E have the same beatiful midrange of the 206E, but they do not screem in the highs. This is an excellent result. Also, it seems to us they produce more bass in your cabinets than the 206E? I wonder if the fact that they only go up to 14kHz makes it so they can focus on the rest of the frequency range better than the 206E do. No doubt, some people will want to add a tweeter to the design, other not, depending on taste, room, etc. The design has a tweeter hole in the cabinet, so no problem adjusting for that. Today, we only heard the speakers with no tweeter connected.
Another driver which sounded very good in your horn was the AER MK-1 (the one I bought in Germany). I think the German company slightly modified the driver to give more bass and is not doubt this configuration has more bass than Fostex 207E. Sometimes, one may feel even too much bass with AER! AER is also more detailed that 207E but we think this driver is better matched with a valve CD player like Docet-Lector 0.5 to add some warmth to the sound (the 207E is already warm enough, also because less detailed)."
