Measures for COVID-19

In line with the decision taken in the context of combating the New Coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic that affects the whole world, as of 16 March 2020, all kinds of meetings, congresses, seminars, undergraduate and graduate education, YILDIZ-SEM trainings, academic exchange programs, sports, arts and similar activities were suspended for 3 weeks (16 March-6 April).

The coordination of the whole process is carried out by Higher Education Council, and the measures taken by the authorities, especially by Higher Education Council, and the activities to be implemented for these measures are carried out effectively and dynamically by the commission established within our University. Our students and members are periodically being informed through our official digital channels (E-mail, Web and Social Media announcements).

In this context, information given by Higher Education Council, the measures taken at our University are as follows;

-All classrooms in Yıldız and Davutpaşa campuses are closed for use.

-Document Request; Student Certificate, Transcript, Diploma

These documents can be provided electronically, they will not be handed over by our University for a period of time within the scope of COVID-19 measures. If you need any other documents except for these ones, you need to contact relavant divisions through email.

Within this context, Ph.D. Qualifying Oral Exams, Ph.D. Thesis Proposal Exams, Graduate Thesis Defense Exams, Hard Bound Graduate Thesis Submissions after Thesis Defenses, etc. of Our Graduate Students have been postponed

According to Article 46 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547, contract of employment of students working part-time have been suspended temporarily and they are not allowed to work until further notice.

PTT Branch in Davutpaşa Campus is closed from 18 Mar 2020 to 30 Mar 2020.

ISO 9001: 205 Quality Management System Internal Audits, which is planned to be held in the March-April period, have been postponed until furher notification.

MEASURES FOR DOMESTIC AND OVERSEAS TRAVEL

Regarding International Travel Ban: Due to heavily increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases occurring in many countries all over the worlds, tougher medical measures against the virus have been implemented. In line with those measures, our academic and administrative staff are instructed against any international travel until further notice.

Our students/members to whom this case apply must visit their family physicians or go to hospitals and request health reports for a period of complementing 14 days from the time they entered Turkey based on the confirmation through their passports. Furthermore, our staff must send those reports to their respective departments and our students must send those reports to the respective units of their faculty to reserve their rights of re-sit exams and absence from courses.

-The Students and members of our University who coming from abroad in the last 14 days, have to spend this three-week period at their permanent addresses in Turkey and refrain from coming to the university.

MEASURES FOR EXAMS, MEETINGS, ART AND SPORTS ACTIVITIES

It is of utmost importance that our students and staff comply with the rules announced by the Ministry of Health in the public. For this reason, all social, artistic and sports activities to be held in the indoor / outdoor areas on campus have been canceled. These also include activites supported by the University, external stakeholder, and student activities.

Cancellation of Events: Due to heavily increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases occurring in many countries, our country is also taking tougher medical measures against the novel coronavirus. In line with those measures, all of the ongoing and upcoming indoor activities have been cancelled until further notice.

Indoor Sports Hall And Student Clubs Activities

Due to COVID-19 outbreak, all the activities which will be held in the swimming pool, fitness center

and indoor sports hall have been suspended, all student club activities are also cancelled until further notification.

MEASURES FOR HYGIENE AND DISINFECTION

-The application of the personal hygiene and hand washing rules proposed by the Ministry of Health in the office and home environment is very important for public health.

-In order to provide personal hygiene and reduce the risk of infection, the Ministry of Health's posters have been hung in the dormitories, faculties and other administrative buildings.

-Office Hygiene Rules: In the offices, windows should be kept open to let in fresh air for 5 minutes on the hour.

Hygienic Maintenance of Campus Shuttles: On March 8th, 2020, the campus shuttles have been sterilized using Ultra Low Volume device (ULV equipment is designed to produce very small droplets, thus ensuring even coverage with low volumes.) with the intention to destroy the coronavirus and other seasonal viruses. The process was taken very seriously. The disinfection agent had a nano-silver volume of 80 PPM and was not chemical based with no hazards against human health at all thanks to its special formula. The agent did not also contain alcohol, ammoniac, antibiotics and such and any other carcinogen agent including perfumes with antiviral characteristics preventing the spread of the Legionella bacteria inside the ventilation systems.

Sterilization activities at Our University: Due to occurrences of COVID-19 cases occurring in our country and many countries all over the world, tougher medical measures against the virus have been implemented. In line with those measures, since last weekend, sterilization activities have been carried out within all the facilities of our campuses. Thus, all administrative units, classrooms, laboratories and offices are being sterilized. In order to help facilitate those sterilization activities, all our administrative and academic staff are advised to keep their offices unlocked during the business hours and make sure their offices be accessible outside the business hours.

- The academic and administrative staff are advised against ordering take-away food to campus with the intention to minimize contact from outside campus.

- The ways to keep from the Novel Coronavirus and the ways to reduce the risk of infections have been announced on official web sites of YTU and shared through official social media accounts.
