Solar Decathlon Launch

Team Bosphorus is consortium of two university teams; Yildiz Technical University and İstanbul Technical University will represent Turkey at the Solar Decathlon Africa 2019 competition in a range of disciplines; architecture, machine, environment, electric, industry, civil engineering, industrial design, interior architecture, landscape architecture. The Project has been officially launched in Zemin Istanbul by Team Bosphorus.

By today Solar Decathlon has become the world’s most significant architectural innovation competition organized between universities. Initiated by the Department of Energy (DoE) of the US Government, the first Solar Decathlon competition was held in Washington in 2002. Solar Decathlon is a collegiate competition, comprising 10 contests that challenges student teams to design and build highly efficient and innovative buildings powered by renewable energy. 20 international teams from 15 countries will compete, Team Bosphorus will be representing Turkey in the competition.

Our Rector, Prof.  Dr. Bahri Şahin has congratulated the team on an outstanding project, he has also put an emphasis on the project which epitomizes sustainability, integrated design, innovative and renewable energy.
